From a 27650 applicant pool, only 3,226 students were accepted into the Class of 2025. The university’s acceptance rate was 11.7%, an unprecedented low.

The Class of 2026 acceptance rate was 12.1% in the most recent year. The total number of applicants was 3,229 out of 26,670.

Only 881 of 8,832 Early Action applicants were accepted into the admissions cycle. This school’s lowest acceptance rate of 10% was in its history.

Georgetown doesn’t likely have a hard ACT cutoff like the SAT. However, it will be thrown out if your score is too low.

The 25th percentile ACT score for 31-year-olds is the 75th percentile ACT score for 34-year-olds.

Georgetown may not have a minimum ACT requirement. However, if your application is below 31, you will have a hard time getting in unless you include something very special in your application. Many applicants score 33 or higher, so a 31 will appear academically weak.

Georgetown accepts only its applications, which are helpfully referred to as the Georgetown Applications.

This ten- to a fifteen-minute application is the first step in creating an official admissions profile for the school.This will initiate your alumni interview. These interviews are usually held between September and February.

The second step is the Application Supplement. The Application Supplement will require you to:

• Extracurricular activities you were involved in
• Recipients of honors and awards
• Employment experience
• You may have any special talents or skills
• A brief essay of approximately one-half page, single-spaced
• Two essays longer – one for everyone and one for each school

You will then need to send a copy of the Secondary School Report to your principal, headmaster, or college advisor.

Georgetown’s application process requires an alum interview and is more personal than other highly-selected schools. Georgetown values “demonstrated dedication to the broader society” and unique qualities like “resilience, motivation, and ambition.”

Georgetown wants to attract a diverse first-year class, both ethnically and socioeconomically. Georgetown is looking for a section/resume with activities that shows accomplishments, passion, leadership, and demonstrates leadership.

They won’t be impressed if you fill in the ten Common App Activity List spaces. They want to see evidence of excellence in at least one activity.

You might have won a county-wide math competition or been a top cellist in your state. Or, perhaps, you were the president of an organization that had a significant impact.

Tips for Applying to Georgetown

The following information is essential if you want to join the nearly 27,000 Hoya hopefuls in the next admissions cycle.

• Georgetown hopes to see evidence that high school students have completed advanced coursework. 70%+ of applicants submit AP exam scores.
• Georgetown requires that all applicants have an interview with one of the alumni admissions program’s 6,000 members. There are 200 communities within this organization, so there is a good chance that you will find an interviewer nearby.

• Georgetown doesn’t consider ” displayed interest,” and you won’t be judged on whether you visited campus, contacted an admissions officer, or any other factors. It is an excellent idea to let the university know if they are your top choice school, considering their declining yield rate (as discussed earlier).
• Georgetown requires that you devote sufficient time and effort to the supplemental essays. There were three prompts for 2020-21 applicants. One additional question was specific to Georgetown.

Prompt 1 – Indicate any talents or special skills that you have. (250 words)

Prompt 2 – Briefly describe the significance of the school/summer activity in which your involvement was most significant to you. (1/2 page single-spaced or 300-400 words, depending on font size).

Georgetown Early Action Decision Date

Georgetown will contact students who apply for early action by December 15 via the online portal.
Two possible decisions are available to early action applicants.EA students are admitted to the program or deferred for a second review during the regular cycle.

Georgetown will not reject students in the early action cycle. However, students still have until May 1 to accept or decline an offer.

Georgetown offers students the opportunity to apply for their EA program and EA programs at other universities.

Accepted EA applicants cannot apply simultaneously to other schools’ early decision programs. Early decision programs are usually binding.

Georgetown anticipates that early-action students accepted by Georgetown will be able to decide until May 1.
